A Message from OHCE State President, Donna Jones-

"OHCE has made some fantastic improvements to the State of Oklahoma in years past. We will be making an even greater impact on the State today with our new programs and projects. How proud we are of our recent Cemetery Indexing Project which will be a boon to people across the United States. Hundreds of people have been motivated to improve their health with the “Can’t Weight to Walk” project.

Our first OHCE International Project, WATER FOR ALL will begin in 2007. This organization can make a real difference in the lives of thousands of people with this project by digging water wells in third world countries. It will give fresh water for drinking and better sanitation for the surrounding communities. The 2007-2009 State Project is SUPPORT MILITARY PERSONNEL. I believe we can provide real comfort to our troops and their families and let them know we fully support them.

Donna Jones, OHCE President

Oklahoma Home and Community Education is an organization committed to education about family and consumer issues, community service, and bringing friends together. OHCE members are adults of all ages and gender who are interested in continuing their education in family life skills. OHCE offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, or status as a veteran. Groups consist of women, men, and couples. OHCE has a strong history of promoting family values and shaping communities. The structure of OHCE begins with the local group. These groups meet monthly for an educational program and plan various activities. There are county, district, and state officers and a strong educational partnership with Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Educators and District and State Specialists. At each local meeting, a lesson is presented by a trained OHCE volunteer. The lessons often come from education conducted by the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service and cover the topics of cultural enrichment, health and safety, family issues, leadership skills, and resource management. Each local OHCE group plans several activities annually aimed at community improvement. The projects are selected based on the community’s needs. All OHCE members have an opportunity to develop leadership skills and styles. Volunteers are trained in public speaking and how to give presentations. Join Today!
